Beyond Food received an investment from 15 NHL players. When entrepreneur Darren Burke and former NHL player TJ Galiardi co-founded Beyond Food they didn’t know how bad the food waste problem really was.
The pair have been working with a national grocer and several large scale farms to help mitigate unnecessary waste for over a year and has plans to move across the country and, eventually, the globe. Burke explains, “Frankly, we were so disgusted seeing tonnes of fruits and vegetables being buried and creating methane emissions that we decided to take a simple approach to the problem. By extending the shelf life of the produce, you give yourself time to find high value uses for it.”
Beyond Food provides the raw materials for their plant-based supplement brand, TDF Sports. The brand has partnerships and collaborations across the sports world; attracting investments from 15 profession athletes. The list includes; Joe Thornton, Torey Krug, Adam Lowry, Brooks Orpik, Adam McQuade, Jason Demers, JM Liles, Jim Slater, Adam Burish and six others.
